Peter McBride benefit night

Hundreds of people are expected to converge on the Felons' Club in Andersonstown on Thursday 20 November for a benefit night to highlight the case of North Belfast teenager Peter McBride, who was shot dead by Scots Guards James Fisher and Mark Wright in September 1992.

Fisher and Wright were allowed to rejoin their British Army regiment after serving only two years of life sentences.

Peter's sister Kelly stood in the recent Brent East by-election to highlight the case and received a significant number of votes from the British voters, causing great embarrassment to the Ministry of Defence and the British Government.

Proceeds from the benefit night will go to offset the costs of the election campaign.

Thursday night's entertainment will witness some of the most important songwriter singers to emerge from the Six Counties over the last 30 years.

Headlining the star-studded event are the Sham Belles from Derry, who recently appeared on this years UTV's Country Cool, Belfast's own Terry 'Cruncher' O'Neill, Eileen Webster and former Screaming Bin Lids and Whole Tribe Sings member Declan McLaughlin.

A number of special guests including Fergus O'Hare, Joe Mulhern, the Blue Belle Choir and Brian Moore will also appear.

"This will be a good night of craic and music," said event organiser Declan McLaughlin. "The Peter McBride Campaign is a campaign that people should support so we want a good crowd there on the night." Doors open 9.30pm sharp.
