North Antrim intimidation continues

Sinn Féin's North Antrim representative councillor James McCarry has called for an end to the recent campaign of loyalist intimidation in the Ballycastle area.

In the latest incident, according to McCarry, ``a local man was contacted by the RUC and informed that his details were in the hands of loyalist paramilitaries.

``This is the latest in a long line of such intimidation. Only last week, Catholic taxi drivers in the town were told that a threat was phoned into a local radio station ordering them to stay out of loyalist areas.

``These incidents, coupled with an attack on Catholic workmen in Moss Side, show clearly that an organised campaign of intimidation is being carried out in the North Antrim area. Unionist politicians and community leaders in the area need to stand with isolated Catholic communities in the face of these attacks.''
