Video – Republicans protest arrest of Basque lawyers
REPUBLICANS in Belfast held a protest on Thursday following the arrest of sixteen people in the Basque country. Those arrested include twelve lawyers who are representing people accused by Spain of membership of a banned political party
The arrests took place just days after more than 80,000 people protested in Bilbao calling for the repatriation of Basque political prisoners.
Sinn Féin West Belfast MP Paul Maskey condemned the arrests and called for the Spanish state to immediately release the lawyers and drop all charges against them.
