Video – Nurses protest against hospital overcrowding crisis
THE Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) protested outside Leinster House on Wednesday calling for immediate action from the Government on the overcrowding crisis in hospitals.
Speaking to An Phoblacht at the protest, Sinn Féin Health Spokesperson Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD:
"This is an indictment of the current Minister’s failure to deal with the crisis. Nurses and their supporters are today attempting to force Health Minister Varadkar into action.
"Through his cavalier attitude he has been grossly insensitive to all patients who have suffered the indignity and the danger of long waits on trolleys."
INMO spokesperson Claire Mahon told the rally that sick people are not a burden in society, they are part of it and deserve dignity and respect.
The INMO called for all politicians to commit to investing in the health service.
