Attacks on British soldiers’ memorial must stop, says Sinn Féin councillor
NORTH BELFAST Sinn Féin Councillor Gerry McCabe has repeated his earlier calls for vandals to stop attacking the White Brae memorial to three British soldiers killed in Ligoniel in 1971 during the conflict.
The stone memorial has been attacked 19 times, the latest incident involving the theft of two wreaths as well as slogans daubed on it.
“Memorials from whatever background should not be targeted in this way,” the Sinn Féin councillor said as he called for an end to the vandalism.
“The actions of those involved in this are not representative of the people of this community and whoever is behind this should question what they are achieving.”
