Bobby Storey calls for big turnout at Saturday’s anti-cuts rally in Belfast
BOBBY STOREY, Chair of Sinn Féin’s Cúige Uladh, has called on people across the North to support this Saturday’s community rally against Tory welfare cuts.
The rally – in Belfast’s Writers’ Square – is an initiative by Belfast’s community sector.
Addressing the EGM of West Belfast Sinn Féin on Monday 6 October, Bobby Storey called on republicans across the North to attend “and to bring as many people with you – we can stop the Tory cuts”.

Speaking separately ahead of the rally, Gerry McConville, Director of the Falls Community Council, said:
“This rally is an important opportunity for us as a united community to stand beside those most threatened by cuts in the welfare benefit system.
“These proposed cuts must be opposed as they threaten the most disadvantaged within our community.
“We are calling for all community organisations to come along with posters, banners etc in a public display of solidarity with those at risk from these welfare cuts.
“The rally is open to everyone and we have one simple message – Hands off the poor, no welfare cuts.”
