New Gaza mural on Belfast’s International Wall
THE NEW MURAL on Belfast’s International Wall highlighting the latest bout of barbarism being inflicted on the Palestinian people in Gaza poses the question: ‘Where is the world?' as Palestinian men, women and children are being obliterated by Israel.
The silence of the international community gives a green light for the bombardment of Gaza.
Where is the world?
As the attacks intensified on Thursday 17 July with the invasion by the Zionist war machine by land as well as sea and air, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon voiced his ‘regret’ that Israel has launched a ground offensive against Gaza.
In response to the nine days of incessant bombing and hundreds of deaths (including more than 50 children) that has devastated Gaza, the Secretary General could only muster up enough indignation to call for restraint.
The outrage over the suspected shooting down of Malaysian Airlines MH17 over Ukraine with the loss of almost 300 lives has had UN Security Council delegates and Western leaders clambering over each other to loudly denounce the Kremlin and even Russia’s President Putin of involvement in the tragedy.
The slaughter of more than 500 Palestinian people in Israel’s onslaught, however, must be a matter of ‘regret’ for them.
