The Sinn Féin leader also said Fianna Fáil had made a cynical U-turn as their election manifesto called for Seanad abolition.
SINN FÉIN President Gerry Adams has challenged Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin to a public debate on the Seanad referendum.
Speaking to media at Leinster House ahead of the return of the new Dáil term, the Louth TD described Fianna Fáil's opposition toSeanad abolition as "a tactical decision" which is entirely based on getting as much publicity as possible.
The Sinn Féin leader also said Fianna Fáil have made a cynical U-turn having supported abolition in their most recent manifesto . Gerry questioned Fianna Fáil's dedication to reform citing their failure to implement Seanad reform during their 14 years in government.
"I'm challenging him to a public debate," he said, adding that it could be a live TV debate or some other format.
