DOZENS of republicans marched to Balgriffin Cemetery in north Dublin on Saturday to remember IRA Volunteer Patrick Cannon who was killed alongside Donegal Volunteer Peter McElchar in a premature explosion on 17 July 1976.
The main speech was delivered by Kinsale Sinn Féin Councillor Noel Harrington. Noel was a close friend and comrade of Pat's. He spoke of a young man deeply dedicated to the Irish republican struggle.
Also at the event were members of Pat's family, his friends and a number of elected representatives, including Dublin North-West Sinn Féin TD Dessie Ellis, Donaghmede Councillor Mícheál Mac Donncha , Coolock & Artane Councillor Larry O'Toole and Athlone Councillor Paul Hogan.
The march was led by the Dublin Republican Colour Party and the Rising Phoenix Republican Flute Band. The ceremony ended with Sinn Féin Republican Youth activist Santana Hernandez Power singing Amhrán na bhFiann.
