Irish-American Unity Conference South Florida Chapter President Marie Smith said:
“I would like to thank Jim Bomford for his tireless efforts of getting the Irish unity legislation to the Florida Senate and also a debt of gratitude to state Senator David Simmons (pictured right) and his staff for all their hard work in sponsoring this decisive measure.”
The United Ireland Campaign continues to gain support across the US. In the last few months, the Pennsylvania Senate, Baltimore City Council and Firefighters’ Emerald Society have passed united Ireland resolutions.
Most recently, the National Assembly of Irish-American Republicans endorsed Irish unity, stating:
“Ireland has been divided for too long. It is time for all 32 counties of Ireland to be strong, prosperous and unified in one state.”
