Marian Price’s continued imprisonment ‘unjustifiable’ – Sinn Féin MLA
‘It is clear once again that Marian Price is unfit to stand trial and should be released immediately’
THE continued imprisonment of Marian Price (pictured right) is totally unjustifiable and she should be released immediately, Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann said today.
The West Belfast Assembly member was speaking after a Derry court heard that UN doctors as well as prison and defence doctors all agreed that Marian Price is too ill to stand trial as she is unable to give instructions to her defence team.
Jennifer McCann said:
“It is clear once again that Marian Price is unfit to stand trial and should be released immediately.
“The added weight of the UN doctors opinion alongside both prison and defence doctors all agreeing that she is unable to give instructions to her defence team makes her continued imprisonment unjustifiable.
“There should be no delay as her further detention is an affront to natural justice.”
