Pearse Doherty calls on Ulster Bank CEO to resign over continuing chaos
The Ulster Bank CEO refused to rule out accepting a bonus this year
PEARSE DOHERTY TD has called on Ulster Bank CEO Jim Brown to resign over his failure today to accept responsibility for the ongoing chaos that has caused disruption to the lives of up to half a million Ulster Bank customers and the people they deal with.
The Ulster Bank CEO also refused to rule out accepting a bonus this year.
The Sinn Féin Finance spokesperson was speaking after an Oireachtas (Irish Parliament) Finance Committee hearing on the Ulster Bank fiasco.
The Donegal South West TD said the CEO should accept responsibility for the ongoing failures in Ulster Bank, “to accept that the buck stops with him, and when the mess is cleared up to consider his position and resign”.
Deputy Doherty said:
“The chaos caused by the IT system crash at Ulster Bank has caused disruption to the lives of up to half a million Ulster Bank customers. It has also caused severe disruption to customers of other banks.
“That the backlog caused by the system failure will not be cleared for another two weeks is both unbelievable and unacceptable.”
