Bundoran Town Councillor joins Sinn Féin

Diarmaid Doherty is welcomed into Sinn Féin by TDs Pearse Doherty and Michael Colreavy

'I believe many others will follow my lead and take the decision to join Sinn Féin'

BUNDORAN Town Councillor Diarmaid Doherty has joined Sinn Féin and the party’s existing team of Michael McMahon and Seán Carthy on the Donegal local authority.

Diarmaid was welcomed into Sinn Féin by TDs Pearse Doherty and Michael Colreavy. He said:

“Throughout my time in public office, I have worked closely alongside Mick and Seán on innumerable campaigns and local issues on behalf of our community and I have for a long time believed Sinn Féin to be my natural political home.

“Sinn Féin has been at the forefront of the campaign to defend our communities against the ravages of this government’s austerity measures and I feel that our party’s policies are resonating with ordinary people, not just locally but across Ireland.

“Sinn Féin has consistently presented alternative political solutions to the difficulties faced by the people and I believe many others will follow my lead and take the decision to join its ranks in the future."

Deputy Pearse Doherty said:

“Diarmaid has toiled alongside our representatives on many campaigns and I look forward to this continued and strengthened relationship developing further into the future as all of us on the Sinn Féin team continue to address the issues concerning the people of Bundoran and south Donegal.

Deputy Michael Colreavy added:

“I believe Diarmaid’s decision to join our party reflects the growing appeal of our policies across the country, an appeal that promises an exciting future for Sinn Fein.”
