Women for the Republic

Chrissie Nic Giolla Mhín, who aims to win a seat for Sinn Féin in West Belfast in next month's local government elections, had the support of some very prominent republican activists as she canvassed in Andersonstown last week.

Accompanying her were Bridget Hannon, Ann Murray, Liz Groves and Annie Cahill, as well as many other women and girls from the area. Chrissie, a first time candidate, is confident that she will win the votes she needs to take a seat on Belfast City Council.

"I have a team of brilliant women out working with me. They range in age from teenagers to Bridget Hannon, who is in her 90s and has been involved in republican politics for most of her life. I feel very privileged to have such support," said Chrissie.
