Ógra Shinn Féin commemorate Arafat's death

On 18 November a large crowd attended a candlelit vigil to commemorate the one-week anniversary of the death of the Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat. The candlelit procession was organised by the Ógra Shinn Féin cumann of Queens and Jordanstown Universities and took place on Palestine Street in the Holylands area of Belfast. Free article
Health Bill 'the wrong remedy for the wrong illness'

Sinn Féin TD Caoimhghin Ó Caoláin has described the Health Bill as "the wrong remedy for the wrong illness". The Health spokesperson said it removes democratic accountability and concentrates energy on bureaucratic change rather than on delivery for patients and real reform. The process of changeover to the Health Services Executive has "descended into chaos", he said. Free article

Anger as City Council moves to end role in housing provision

Anger and opposition is growing as Dublin City Council leads the charge to fundamentally alter the role of local authorities in the delivery of social housing in the 26 Counties. Fallujah protest outside Raytheon plant

Last Friday, the Foyle Ethical Investment Campaign carried out the digging of a symbolic grave at the Raytheon plant in Derry. During the protest, large numbers of white ribbons and flowers were tied to the railings which run along the perimeter of the Raytheon plant, which manufactures military software. Free article
