Stevens Report delayed again

The long awaited Stevens Inquiry report into the killing of Pat Finucane is to be delayed for a second time, it was announced on Wednesday. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Stevens said further enquiries were needed that would delay publication. The report, which had been due for publication in November, is now scheduled to be completed by next spring. Free article

Government urged to oppose war on Iraq

Speaking during statements on Iraq in the Dáil on Wednesday, Sinn Féin spokesperson on International Affairs and Defense, Aengus Ó Snodaigh called on the government to strongly oppose the launching of a new war against Iraq by the US and British governments. He also called for an immediate cessation of the practice of giving permission to foreign states to refuel, resupply, and train military aircraft in Irish airports and Irish airspace, and to use Irish seaports for their naval vessels.
