Sinn Féin TD to visit Sellafield

Sinn Féin TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin has said that he will be visiting the Sellafield nuclear plant at the end of the month to demand its closure by British Nuclear Fuels and the British government. The Cavan/Monaghan TD, speaking on Tuesday at a debate on Sellafield in University College Dublin, slammed British Nuclear Fuels Ltd (BNFL) on the latest revelations about safety in the Sellafield complex. New laws could wipe out small farmers

Sinn Féin general election candidate for Sligo/Leitrim, Councillor Seán MacManus, has called on the Minister for the Environment, Noel Dempsey, to scrap the government's proposed "Recovery of Organic Waste Regulations, 2001", which he believes could wipe out small farmers. Sligo County Council this week adopted a motion proposed by MacManus supporting this demand. Free article
