Irish Formula One racing ace, Eddie Irvine was celebrating again on the winners podium on Sunday 27 April after coming third in the Italian Grand Prix, but Irvine's celebrations were shadowed by a fluttering union jack and the fact that his family had been attacked by loyalists at their home in Conlig, County Down. POWs' information missing

PERSONAL INFORMATION BELONGING TO Republican POWs has gone missing. One man, Gerry McDonnell, told An Phoblacht that after he was moved from H7 following the discovery of the tunnel his personal belongings were taken away to be searched. When they were returned two filofaxes and an address book were missing. Free article

Kesh escaper arrested for extradition

Dermot McNally who escaped from the H-Blocks of Long Kesh in the mass breakout of 1983 was arrested in Sligo on foot of British extradition warrants on 24 April. He has been living openly in Sligo for 12 years. Free article

US protest against Thatcher

Irish activists will converge on York, Pennsylvania on Wednesday 7 May to protest against an appearance by former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. She will be the guest speaker at a function sponsored by the Junior League of York. Free article

The handful of delegates to the Democratic Left conference in Dún Laoghaire last weekend heard their leader Proinsias de Rossa ditch yet another of their once cherished principles - defence of neutrality. As well as approving re-entry into Coalition with Fine Gael and Labour, the DL members applauded the leader's address which supported the placing of Dublin government troops under NATO command in Bosnia.
