Réabhlóidí ag siúl Sléibhte Thír Chonaill

22 September 2005

Le linn an deireadh seachtaine seo caite, reachtáil Grúpa Tacaíochta Chúba - Éire (Cuba Support Group - Ireland) agus cumann áitiúil Shinn Féin sraith imeachtaí i nGleann Cholmcille i nGaeltacht Thír Chonaill. Bhí tuairim is 70 nó 80 a rinne an aistear fhada go dtí an ceantar álainn iarghúlta seo agus a ghlac páirte sna himeachtaí le 'Campa Habhána'. An príomhthéama a bhain leis an deireadh seachtaine ná an éagóir atá imirthe ar chúigear saoránach Cúbánacha i bpríosún sna Stáit Aontaithe Mheiriceá, nó Cúigear Miami mar is fearr aithne orthu agus cuireadh scannán faisnéise ar siúl maidir le seo. Rac réabhlóideach i ndeireadh ré?

22 September 2005

Ón am a tháinig rac-cheol ar an saol nuair a sheinn Little Richard an t-amhrán Tutti Frutti i gcathair Nua Orleans beagnach leathchéad bliain ó shin, níl aon amhras ann ach gur tháinig réabhlóid chultúrtha ar an bhfód. Ar dtús, bhain an modh ceoil nua seo le frithchultúr na nAfra-Meiriceánach le ceoltóirí ar nós Fats Domino, Johnny Otis, Chuck Berry, agus ansin le ceoltóirí geala ar nós Elvis Presley, Bill Haley agus Jerry Lee Lewis. Bertie's brass neck and the Coalition of the Confused

22 September 2005

The Dáil returns next week and Mícheál Mac Donncha surveys the political scene. As FIVE Mayo men continue to languish in prison this week for protecting their community from a multinational oil and gas giant, Bertie Ahern had the brass neck to launch a book on the great Irish socialist, republican and trade unionist James Connolly. Outside Liberty Hall where the book was launched supporters of the Rossport 5 and opponents of the FF/PD Government's deportations gathered to protest. Free article

Oil from soil

22 September 2005

An important debate is currently raging throughout the country about the high cost of fuel. As a result many people have been discussing the potential benefits of Ireland becoming involved in creating a Bio Fuels industry. The debate has been sparked for all the wrong reasons. With the unjust war in Iraq, the rapidly growing economies in Asia and the devastation caused to gulf states in the USA by Hurricane Katrina, oil is in greater demand, yet there is an the inability to refine higher quantities of crude oil. Expose the Fraud

22 September 2005

We are witnessing the origins of another fraud. There is still time; we can nip it in the bud. Enda and Pat are promising an alternative government. Opinion polls are suggesting that this ruse is getting through to the, admittedly weary, potential electorate. Free article

Unity is our primary goal

22 September 2005

2005 HAS been a big year for republicans. Just a few short weeks ago the IRA, in a widely acclaimed move, formally ended its armed campaign. I am certain that in the near future they will honour their commitment to put arms beyond use. The impact of all of this has yet to be fully absorbed either amongst republicans or people across the island. But what it has already done is to open up the opportunity to revive the Peace Process and to put the debate for Irish unity centre stage. Free article
