Sinn Féin President in US and Canada 
SINN FÉIN President Gerry Adams left Canada on Sunday after a busy six days in the USA and Toronto. During his many speaking engagements the Sinn Féin leader focused on two broad themes. The first was an update on the current situation in the Peace Process and specifically the difficulties around the transfer of powers on policing and justice, and the second was to address the issue of Irish reunification. SATURDAY, 7 November saw a large gathering of republicans from Dublin and further afield at the Gresham Hotel for the Dublin Volunteers Dinner Dance. The annual event is designed to commemorate the memory and the sacrifices of Dublin IRA Volunteers Tom Smith, Patrick Cannon, Colm Daltún, Mick Timothy, Christy Harford and Martin Doherty and Sinn Féin activist Jeff McKenna, all of whom died in the course of their republican activity. It is also the occasion for Dublin republicans to pay tribute to a special republican honouree from the Dublin area. PALESTINIANS and foreign activists tore down segments of Israel's separation wall this week in a demonstration marking the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. THE campaign group, Relatives for Justice is to take legal action against the British Government for its role in arming unionist paramilitaries. Relatives for Justice (RFJ) had been inundated with calls from families of the victims of British state violence after news that a class action for compensation against Libya is being sought by unionists. SINN FÉIN MLA Martina Anderson has said that it is unacceptable that the PSNI has again failed to supply the North's coroner with a copy of the Stalker report. Speaking on Tuesday Anderson said: "Senior Coroner for the North John Lecky ordered the PSNI to supply a copy of the Stalker Report to the inquest of six men killed by the RUC in 'Shoot to Kill' operations in the early eighties. The deadline set by the coroner expired yesterday and as yet the PSNI have failed to comply." Those killed were IRA Volunteers Gervaise McKerr, Eugene Toman and Sean Burns as well as INLA Volunteers Seamus Grew and Roddy Carroll. The sixth to be killed was 17-year-old Michael Tighe who was shot dead by the RUC in a hayshed that was under surveillance by MI5 at the time. A LARGE gathering of young republicans attended the launch of the Fermanagh Cumann of Ógra Shinn Féin in Derrygannon Hall last Friday night. There they were given an insight into the workings of the youth wing of the party as well as a preview of what campaigns young Fermanagh republicans can expect over the coming year. Ógra Shinn Féin National Organiser Barry McColgan gave an in-depth review of work carried out by local activists over the past 12 months including canvassing on behalf of Debbie Coyle in the Enniskillen by-election and hosting the National Youth Camp in Knockatallon. A pageant to honour the Four Martyrs executed by the Free State Government on 8 December 1922 will be staged by Belfast Republicans. The commemoration which is to be held in the Andersonstown Social Club on Saturday 28 November is organised to be an educational evening and to that end young republicans from the area play the central role in the pageant. SINN FÉIN Mayor of Navan Cllr Joe Reilly has been elected chair of the town's Joint Policing Committee. On his election, the Sinn Féin Meath County Councillor declared his determination to use the JPC as a mechanism to include the people of Navan in prioritising policing in the town. Reilly said it was an honour to be selected as chairperson of Navan Policing Committee not because of prestige or title, but "because I will ensure that the meetings are not only open to the public, but proactive in engaging people."
