Wexford to honour Spanish Civil War hero On Friday evening 7 September in Monageer Village members of Wexford Sinn Féin will hold the inaugural annual commemoration in honour of Tan War veteran and Spanish Civil War hero, Peter Daly. From a townland a few miles from Enniscorthy in County Wexford, Peter Daly was a Battalion Commander in the International Brigade when he was fatally injured during an assault to capture Purburell Hill near Quinto in north eastern Spain from the fascists during the Aragón offensive of August 1937.
