Wexford Sinn Féin General Election candidate, Cllr. John Dwyer, has welcomed the news that his fellow Sinn Féin council colleagues in Dublin have sought an urgent meeting with Dublin City Council officials to discuss the issue of sludge from Dublin being spread on farmland in County Wexford. Last Saturday, 12 May, Sinn Féin leaders Gerry Adams, Martin McGuinness and Mary Lou McDonald marked the anniversaries of the death on Hunger Strike of IRA Volunteer Francis Hughes and the execution of James Connolly, signatory of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic and a leading participant in the 1916 Easter Rising. The book Women's Stories from the North of Ireland by the award winning Italian journalist Silvia Calamati, is to be translated into Spanish. Speaking to An Phoblacht, Calamati, explained that she wanted the book, which has both English and Italian editions, published in Spanish to bring the stories of Irish women affected by the war in the North to a wider worldwide audience. |
