Iraq - Leaked intelligence report worrying for Bush

On Sunday, 24 September, the New York Times and Washington Post published articles based on the leak of a classified intelligence report entitled Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States and which was produced by 16 US intelligence agencies highlighting how the war in Iraq "was cultivating supporters for the global jihadist movement".

Thirty years ago, on 16 October, the night sky over Belfast suddenly turned bright orange. I watched this strange occurrence with other republican prisoners from the top landing of C Wing in Crumlin Road jail and wondered about the source of it. It was not long before we heard on the radio that an explosion had occurred at Belfast's gas works in the Markets area.

Memorial unveiled to IRA volunteers in Dún Laoghaire

Republicans from Dún Laoghaire and South Dublin accompanied by the Joe McDonnell Flute Band made their way the short distance from Ballybrack village to Maddens Lane for the unveiling of a memorial plaque to two IRA volunteers, Patrick Meaney and Thomas Dunne on.
