Cabra honours the Hunger Strikers

Members of the original Cabra H-Block/Armagh Action Group from 1981 last weekend unveiled a plaque in memory of the H-Block hunger strike martyrs aswell as hunger strikers Michael Gaughan and Frank Stagg who died in 1974 and 1976 respectively. Mick Finnegan, a member of the original action group and of the Caroll/Ashe Cumann, Sinn Féin carried out the unveiling at the bridge on Fassaugh Avenue. MEP welcomes Naomh Fionnbarra hurlers to EU Parliament

Last weekend on a field just north of Brussels, close to where Napoleon met his Waterloo, another battle took place when a delegation of hurlers from Naomh Fionnbarra GAA, Cabra played the newly formed Brussels hurling team. The event was organised by Mary Lou McDonald MEP who gingerly threw the sliotar in and the two teams got tore into each other. Free article
