Cllr Peadar Tóibín new candidate for Meath West

On Thursday last in a packed function room in the Ardboyne Hotel, delegates from across Meath came together to select a candidate to contest the next General Election for Sinn Féin. They unanimously chose Cllr Peadar Tóibín. Cllr Joe Reilly who has been the party's candidate for the last five elections nominated Cllr Tóibín. In accepting the nomination Peadar said, "To be nominated to contest for Sinn Féin is a massive honour for me. Sinn Féin is the oldest political party in Ireland. Doherty to compile valuable tourism and job creation report

Movement on Back to School payment - Ó Caoláin

The Department of Social Protection has announced the recruitment of 105 additional temporary staff to administer the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance. The announcement came after Sinn Féin Cavan-Monaghan Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin raised the issue in the Dáil, pointing to the danger of a repetition of the long delays in payments experienced by parents last year. Veteran Clady Republicans to be honoured

Republicans from across Clady, Ballymacnab and Granemore are making final preparations for a special event taking place in Ballymacnab Hall on Saturday 12th June to honour two local veteran republicans, Rita and Tina McNally. Rita stood as a Sinn Féin candidate for the Cusher ward in the 1989 and 1993 local elections and both women contributed greatly to the republican struggle over many years. Free article
