Derry man killed in loyalist feud

• In the past week, a 22-year-old loyalist has died in hospital after being shot in the head as the feud between factions of the UVF in the Waterside area of Derry intensified. Darren Thompson was shot in the head by members of the UVF as he walked to work through Woodburn Park in the Waterside on Wednesday morning 29 September. Free article

Clonakilty's Fairtrade Birthday

On Wednesday 22 September, Clonakilty celebrated its first birthday as Ireland's inaugural Fairtrade Town. Seen at the celebrations at O'Donovan's Hotel were Fairtrade committee members Councillor Cionnaith Ó Súilleabháin, Jennifer Sleeman and Reverend Ian Jonas, with the Town Mayor Councillor Phil O'Regan, who congratulated the committee and the people of Clonakilty for their support of Fairtrade produce.
