Sinn Féin hosts United Left MEPs

Sinn Féin this week played host to 33 Members of the European Parliament and their staff in both Dublin and Belfast. The MEPs are members of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left, the fourth largest grouping in the European Parliament. They were in Ireland for a working meeting and used the opportunity to meet with and engage in dialogue with Sinn Féin on European and Irish issues. Free article
Meeting sought over nuclear waste dump

Sinn Féin Moyle Councillor Oliver McMullan says the party is seeking an urgent meeting with the British Government over fears that a nuclear waste dump could be built at the closest part of Scotland to the Six Counties. Free article

As part of Sinn Féin's activities around Seachtain na Gaeilge, Roinn an Chultúir organised a week of intensive language classes in An Creagán centre in the heartland of Tyrone. The course was directed at the Sinn Féin team in the Assembly, both MLAs and support staff. Free article
Vol Tom Smith honoured in Dublin

Sunshine, in a week of dismal weather, greeted marchers for the annual Tom Smith commemoration in Dublin on Wednesday 17 March. Smith was shot dead by 26-County troops as he tried to escape from Portlaoise Prison on St Patrick's Day 1975. Free article
EU candidate to present annual Feargal O'Hanlon lecture

The Sinn Féin candidate for the EU elections, Pearse Doherty, will deliver the annual Feargal O'Hanlon Memorial Lecture this Sunday. Volunteer Feargal O'Hanlon from Monaghan was murdered along side Seán Sabhat (South) of Limerick in the early hours of 1957 following a republican attack at Brookeborough Barracks. Free article
