Call for UVF bomb case to be re-examined

The only person to be charged in a loyalist "attempt at mass murder" walked free from court last week after a Belfast judge accepted his claim that he did not know that the car he was driving contained a bomb. Reacting to the acquittal, Sinn Féin's North Antrim Assembly member Philip McGuigan called for an inquiry into the judgement. Free article
Drunken Royal Irish Regiment soldier attacked student

An off-duty Royal Irish Regiment (RIR) soldier who, along with a colleague, attacked a student in a drunken brawl, leaving him with a brain haemorrhage, was jailed for a year last Friday 19 March at a court in Portrush in County Antrim. Free article
Cullinane criticises Charles Windsor visit

David Cullinane, Sinn Féin EU candidate for the South constituency, criticised last weekend's visit by Charles Windsor, heir to the British throne, to a party in Lismore as grossly offensive. The Waterford-based party representative said that the visit to the Duke of Devonshire, who still claims to own vast swathes of East Cork and West Waterford, was an insult to the people there and a display of the British royal family's arrogance. Support for Drogheda postal workers

Sinn Féin European election candidate John Dwyer was in Drogheda on Friday last giving support to the postal workers in the town. Louth TD Arthur Morgan and local election candidate Tom Cunningham joined him this week in urging people to post their mail at Drogheda Post Office despite management of An Post saying they can't deal with the present backlog.
