Wexford Sinn Féin held a press conference last Friday to launch the party's 2004 local election candidates. Kerry North TD Martin Ferris was in the Ferrycarrig Hotel in Wexford town as Sinn Féin unveiled their largest ever team of candidates to contest next June's local elections in county Wexford, with nine candidates contesting twelve seats. Closing DART at weekends defies logic

Iarnród Éireann's announcement that it is to close down the DART service on weekends for the following nine months from next Saturday is "completely unacceptable", says Sinn Féin Dáil spokesperson on Transport, Seán Crowe. Young man's skull fractured

A 21-year-old Catholic man had his skull fractured with either a wheel brace or hammer when he was attacked by loyalists as he walked along the Cliftonville Road in North Belfast in the early hours of Sunday morning 5 October. Free article

Family flees home after loyalist attack

A Catholic family of four had to flee their home on the Parkhill estate in Antrim after an attack by a gang of masked unionist paramilitaries on Sunday night, 5 October. Siobhan Robb, her partner and their two young children had been inundated with bogus fast food deliveries and taxis all evening before the situation became more serious with the appearance of masked loyalists outside the house at Donegore Drive. Man assaulted for second time

A 30-year-old Catholic man from the Short Strand was the victim of two sectarian attacks in the space of a week. Robert McDonnell from Bryson Court was first attacked on September 27 as he walked along the Ormeau Road at around 11pm. Free article

Sinn Féin councillor Marie Moore has called on the owners of the site formerly known as Finlay's factory on the Ballygomartin Road to secure it before someone is seriously injured by loyalists. Free article

PSNI ignoring intimidation in Limavady

Catholic residents from the Edenmore Drive area of Limavady have sent an open letter to the PSNI chief Hugh Orde requesting a meeting. They say the PSNI is ignoring loyalist intimidation in the area. Free article
