NORTH ANTRIM Sinn Féin MLA, Daithí McKay, has condemned last Sunday’s arson attack on the home of a Clough mother of one.
The attack, which caused extensive damage to the property, follows on from an incident at the house in the early hours of 12 July when the tenant was beaten by masked intruders. Both incidents are under investigation by the PSNI.
Daithí McKay said:
“It appears there may be a sectarian motive behind these attacks as the victim had recently started going out with a Catholic. I would appeal to the local community to support the couple as everyone deserves to be allowed to live their lives, free from hatred and intimidation.”

SCHOOL ATTACKS
Meanwhile, in Lurgan, Sinn Féin Councillor Johnny McGibbon has called for an end to attacks on schools following the disruption to an event at St Michael’s School in Lurgan as the result of a device being placed at the building.
Councillor McGibbon said:
“Education is a basic human right and schools are an essential element in creation of an equal society. We all have a shared responsibility to ensure that they remain accessible and free for the whole community.
“This type of action serves no purpose and must be brought to an end.”
