Brolly addresses Kurdish rally

Addressing up to 80,000 people at the 15th Annual Kurdish Festival held in the German city of Gelsenkirchen on Saturday 1 September 2007 Sinn Féin’s Francie Brolly called on the political leadership of the Kurdish struggle to continue to mobilise their people.
Brolly was invited to the Kurdish festival to represent Sinn Féin at the conference and outline the lessons of Irish history and the Irish peoples’ ongoing struggle for national liberation.
The Sinn Féin representative was particularly keen to describe the changes in the political landscape in Ireland that were set in train by the historic decision by the leadership of the IRA to call it’s cessation of military operations in 1994.
