Speaking in New York at the party's annual major fundraiser in the city, Gerry Adams spoke of the difficulties in the current situation in the North and called on Irish Americans to join with Sinn Féin in increasing efforts to advance Irish unity and independence. Comrades pay tribute to inspirational activists

A ROAD accident last Sunday took the lives of two prominent Donegal Sinn Féin members - the Sinn Féin Mayor of Ballyshannon Councillor PJ Branley and his party colleague, Dessie McNulty. They were driving toward Donegal delivering Sinn Féin literature when their car collided with that of 17-year-old Michael O'Sullivan, who was also killed in the accident. The loss of the two party activists has devastated their colleagues in Donegal and tributes have been paid to the men from friends in Donegal and party activists across the North. Free article

Ideals of Edentubber Martyrs drive us on today

THOUSANDS of republicans assembled on the Louth/Armagh border on Sunday, 9 November, to commemorate the tragic deaths of five republican activists during the 1956-62 IRA Border Campaign when a landmine exploded prematurely. The five who died at Edentubber, a few hundred yards from the border crossing at Carrickarnon, and since known as the Edentubber Martyrs, included the owner of the cottage, 54-year-old Michael Watters; Paul Smith, 19 years old, who was born and lived at the Gardens, Bessbrook; Oliver Craven, from Dominic Street, Newry; and Patrick Parle and George Keegan of Wexford. The theme of this year's Edentubber commemoration was the role of women in the struggle for Irish freedom and the main address was delivered by Sinn Féin MEP Bairbre de Brún. Gerry Adams welcomes discovery of remains in Wicklow

THE Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has welcomed the news that human remains have been discovered at a site in County Wicklow where the IRA says it secretly buried the body of West Belfast man Danny McIlhone in 1981. The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims Remains (ICLVR) confirmed on Monday 10 November that a search was underway at Ballynultagh, County Wicklow for the remains of Danny McIlhone. Ó Caoláin slams cancer vaccine cuts

The government is being widely condemned for its decision to scrap plans to provide teenage girls with a cervical cancer vaccine. Sinn Féin Health Spokesperson Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin, speaking during the Private Members Motion on the decision to axe the HPV Vaccination programme, said the money spent on tax breaks for the developers of private hospitals could have paid for the HPV Vaccination Programme several times over. Justice delayed is justice denied

THE families of those killed and injured on Bloody Sunday have been told delivery of the Saville Inquiry report will be delayed at least for another year. The inquiry chair informed the families last week that he intends to deliver the report to British Secretary of State Shaun Woodward in the autumn of next year. Free article

Ó Snodaigh in Gaza

Sinn Féin International Affairs and Human Rights Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD travelled to the Gaza Strip on Thursday 6 November as part of an International delegation of international parliamentarians. The trip was organised by the European Campaign to End the Siege of Gaza. Free article
