The Campaign Against Plastic Bullets and the Pat Finucane Centre have reacted angrily to the revelation that the now defunct Police Authority ordered a £300,000 purchase of a further 50,000 plastic bullets at its final November meeting. Free article
Loyalist pipe bomber dies

Last week a Protestant teenager was fatally injured when a pipe bomb exploded in his hand. The youth, who was due to celebrate his 17th birthday this week, died a short time later in a nearby hospital. Free article

On a Monday night 11 November 1957 five people lost their lives in a premature explosion at Edentubber - Oliver Craven, Dominic Street, Newry; Paul Smith, The Gardens, Bessbrook; George Keegan, Enniscorthy; Patrick Parle, Wexford. They were in a cottage belonging to Michael Watters, who also died in the explosion. Free article
