Loyalist mobs target homes and schools

In the early hours of Sunday morning 8 June loyalists attacked the home of a Larne Catholic family with breeze blocks and other missiles. While the attack was being carried out a member of the family, Roseanne Rodgers, died in hospital. Free article
Shankill Butcher shot dead

ROBERT `BASHER' BATES, A ONE TIME MEMBER of the notorious Shankill Butcher gang was shot dead in Belfast on Wednesday morning 11 June. It is believed he was killed by loyalists. Free article
Garvaghy residents reply to Orange letter

Garvaghy Road Residents Coalition (GRRC) have again urged the Orange Order to enter into immediate dialogue to help resolve the marching issue. They emphasised that they are willing to meet with Orangemen any place and any time to discuss the matter. The appeal was made by the GRRC who sent letters to over 1000 Orangemen in response to a letter the residents received last week outlining the Order's intentions to parade on the Garvaghy Road in July. Church of Ireland snubs Orange parade

Human rights groups call for bullets ban

CLARA REILLY OF THE United Campaign Against Plastics (UCAPB) has called on the British Labour Party to ``honour their pre-election policy and ban [plastic bullets] immediately''. Reilly was speaking after the British government announced that its armed forces in the Six Counties had been using ``faulty'' plastic bullets since 1994. Free article
