Dublin's minor hurling revival

One of the many things with which I will be able to bore my grandchildren will be the fact that I played on the same team as Niall Quinn. Eyes wide as saucers, they will ask me if I had a cultured left foot and could I turn on a sixpence? Did I score one of the penalties against Romania in Genoa in 1990? Did Eamon Dunphy call me a great player, or was I just a journeyman? Free article

Clones turns out for local hero
30 June 2005
Thousands turned out on the streets of Clones, County Monaghan, on Tuesday night to welcome home Heavyweight Boxer Kevin McBride. Still basking in the publicity of his recent defeat of former World Heavy Weight Champion Mike Tyson, Kevin told his friends and neighbours who filled the Diamond area of the town that he hopes to challenge for the world title before Christmas, maybe even on Irish soil. Numerous presentations were made from local groups and the new Sinn Féin Mayor of Monaghan, Pat Treanor, along with newly-elected Clones Urban Council Chair, Peter McAleer, made presentations.
