Ageing well with Maskey

Sinn Féin Mayor of Belfast Alex Maskey met with a group of women from the Tar Anall Family Support 'Through the Mill' Project at Belfast City Hall on Wednesday, 5 March.

The project is, according to project coordinators Mary Maginn and Síle McShane, an ageing well programme. The participants, who are all over 50, are relatives of ex-republican prisoners or have had family members killed in the conflict.

"The group has been involved in a wide range of activities, including céilí dancing, reflexology, aromatherapy and outdoor visits. We also give the participants the opportunity to avail of all the health and wellbeing clinics that Tar Anall's family support unit has provided to date," Mary Maginn told An Phoblacht.

Welcoming the group to the City Hall, Alex Maskey presented the group with a plaque with an inscription in Irish, the first ever official plaque to be presented by a Belfast mayor with an Irish inscription.
