TDs from all parties urged to ‘quietly visit’ the Six Counties to see issues
GERRY ADAMS has urged TDs from all parties to "quietly visit"' the Six Counties after the street violence in east Belfast to meet representative groups and individuals and to see at first-hand the issues.
Earlier, Taoiseach Enda Kenny condemned the street violence in Belfast and told TDs in the Dáil:
This is a situation that obviously demands our serious attention.
I have pledged that, on behalf of the Government, we will continue to work closely with the newly-elected Assembly and Executive in Northern Ireland.
Gerry Adams told the Dáil that he shared the concern of other party leaders about the situation in the Short Strand area.
We need not only appeal to everyone to be calm and show leadership, but we want from this Dáil acts of practical solidarity with those communities.
I would encourage TDs from every party to quietly visit the North.
