Donaghmoyne Sinn Féin cumann launched

BY ORLA DALY

During the past number of years there has been a substantial growth in the support of Sinn Féin in the Cavan/Monaghan constituency. This could clearly be seen at a recent function organised by the newly formed Donaghmoyne Sinn Féin cumann in that area, which marked the unveiling of the cumann's banner, designed and produced by Belfast artist Danny Devenney, and attracted a crowd of over 600.

The banner contains the portraits of those after whom the Donaghmoyne cumann takes its name: the late Packy Duffy, Tim Daly, Malachy Watters and Fergal Caraher.

The main speaker of the evening was Armagh Assembly member Pat McNamee, who commented on the four men and praised the workmanship and presentation of the banner. Local Sinn Féin Councillors Matt Carthy and Noel Keelan were also in attendance, as was Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD, who presented represented members of the four families with framed photographs of the banner. Ó Caoláin congratulated the local Sinn Féin members on the work they did in establishing the new cumann.
