Plastic bullet meeting

A public meeting to remember the human cost of plastic bullets and discuss the recently introduced new and more deadly incarnation of this deadly projectile will take place in Belfast on Thursday, 14 June.

The meeting, in St Mary's University College on the Falls Road, will be chaired by Robin Livingstone, whose sister, 14-year-old Julie Livingstone, was killed by a plastic bullet in 1981.

Clara Reilly, chairperson of the United Campaign Against Plastic Bullets, will describe the horrific injuries that brought calls for the weapon to be banned. Professor Colin Harvey from the University of Leeds will talk about the legal implications of the use of plastic bullets since the Good Friday Agreement. A video will be shown and relatives of victims and survivors of plastic bullets will speak from the floor.
