‘Well-paid’ Equality Minister should give up his teacher’s pension

Ask the Minister . . . does he not earn enough?

FIANNA FÁIL Equality Minister Pat Carey should give up his teacher’s pension and save taxpayers money “after pocketing a €120,000 tax-free lump sum while families are struggling to make ends meet”, Sinn Féin Dublin North-West candidate Dessie Ellis has said.

Dublin City Councillor Dessie Ellis said:

It’s a bit rich for the well-paid Equality Minister to be pocketing large sums of money from the taxpayers’ purse on top of his ministerial and TD’s pay when families are struggling to make ends meet as a result of the decisions made by his party.

Pat Carey should lead by example and give up his teacher’s pension.
