Dublin Sinn Féin against bin charges

A public meeting in Dublin's south-east inner city on Tuesday night, 13 February, heard Sinn Féin support for a campaign of opposition to Dublin Corporation's new bin collection charges

Speaking at the meeting in St Andrew's Community Centre, Pearse Street, organised by the Dublin Anti-Bin Charges Campaign, the chairperson of Dublin Sinn Féin, Daithí Doolan, said ``Sinn Féin is supporting the community in opposition to this unjust and unwarranted tax. This service charge was forced on the people of Dublin by the Minister for the Environment and Local Government, Noel Dempsey.

``It has nothing to do with a cohesive and effective waste management plan and everything to do with bully-boy tactics. But these tactics will not work.''
