Racist British National Party registers in Six Counties to fight elections
THE RACIST British National Party has registered as a political party in the North for the first time, allowing it to field candidates in May's Assembly and council elections.
The BNP has been split down the middle by the antics of leader Nick Griffin and the BNP's former fund-raiser, Jim Dowson, a businessman in the North of Ireland
Dowson, a former Orangeman and hardline anti-abortion activist with links to loyalist UFF killer Michael Stone, had reportedly raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the far-Right party from an office near east Belfast. The office has been closed since Dowson stopped working with the BNP at the end of last year. Griffin has expelled dozens of BNP activists who have raised questions about Dowson's operations and why the BNP is in a financial as well as political crisis despite claims of huge amounts of money being raised by Dowson.
At the end of last year, the BNP appointed a new organiser for the Six Counties, Steve Moore from Larne. Glentoran FC supporters who have objected to the BNP leafleting matches have been subjected to hate campaigns on Facebook by Moore and his cronies.
Now the BNP hopes to revive its flagging fortunes by looking for candidates in the upcoming elections in the North.
