Loyalists fear Sinn Fein support

Ballycastle Sinn Féin councillor James McCarry has said he will not be intimidated by loyalist threats, following an incident at his home on Sunday.

``The Samaritans received a coded warning that a bomb had been left outside my home,'' said McCarry, who has regularly been the target of loyalist attacks. ``An initial search of the area found nothing.''

``This is the latest in a long line of attempts to both intimidate and indeed kill myself and my family. It will not, however, deter me from continuing to represent my constituents,'' he said.

``It appears that those involved in these attacks are scared of the rise of Sinn Féin electorally in north Antrim and are attempting to intimidate people from supporting the party.''
