Former DUP councillor faces arms charges

Former DUP councillor Kenneth Blair is to face arms charges after appearing at Coleraine magistrates court on Wednesday 17 March.

Blair, of Belford Park, Ballymoney in County Antrim, was remanded in custody until April 12 charged with possession of firearms and ammunition with intent to endanger life.The RUC seized the weapons in the Ballymoney area only two days before the former councillor's court appearance.

Blair was elected as a DUP councillor in 1985 and served one term before resigning in protest at the Anglo-Irish Agreement.

It is understood that is now a member of the UDP and was an election agent for the party during the assembly elections.
