Intimidation of Lurgan nationalists

Nationalist workers at the Wilson double deck trailers factory in Lurgan have been subjected to sectarian intimidation with threats being painted on factory walls.

SF Assembly member for Upper Bann Dara O'Hagan said, ``in recent days graffiti, warning, `Fenians Remember Hyster' has appeared on the walls. This is a reference to three men, Dessie Rodgers, Fergus Magee and John Lavery, who where shot dead by UVF gunmen on their way from work in the Hyster factory in Craigavon in November 1991.''

O'Hagan was contacted by workers in the factory expressing their anger at this attempt to intimidate Nationalist workers. She said, ``although feeling fearful and threatened, these Catholic workers are determined not to be intimidated out of their jobs. Given the management's stated opposition to sectarian displays, they must be more proactive in creating a neutral workplace where all workers feel safe''.
