SF will not be deflected

Sinn Féin Councillor Brendan Curran, Chairperson of Newry and Mourne Council, said that Wednesday's bomb in Newtownhamilton, South Armagh was ``clearly intended to undermine the current opportunity for peace. It must not be allowed to do so.''

He said that the ``small number of republican militarists, loyalists, or the securocrats who control the British Army and RUC, must not be allowed to set the political agenda. We need an end to armed actions by all of these groups.

``Sinn Féin will not be deflected from our peace strategy. We are determined to pursue a democratic peace settlement.''
