Prisoners given update
Sinn Féin Vice-President Pat Doherty and talks negotiator Martin Ferris along with Aine O Suilleabhain and Bob Smyth met with Republican POWs in Port Laoise Prison last Friday.
Speaking afterwards Pat Doherty said, ``We met with all 39 prisoners on the Republican wing and gave them an update on the political situation.
``We gave them assurances that their release and the transfer of prisoners from England is a priority for us and that there will be no peace settlement without the release of all prisoners.''
A discussion and question and answer session was held with prisoners during the visit. The event is part of series of visits to republican prisoners.
