Dockland Development - who are the real winners?

This is the title of Sinn Féin's submission which was presented to the Dublin Docklands Development Authority by local representative Daithí Doolan. The submission outlines how the multi million pound plan for the Docklands area can best benefit those most affected by it.

``Sinn Féin is involved in these communities and recognises the issues that concern people most. These are housing, education, proper training leading to real jobs, the provision of adequate social, sports and recreational facilities,'' Doolan said.

``Local people are worried that further development will not benefit them. They feel quite removed from all this so-called urban renewal. These communities have long suffered from high rates of unemployment and drug abuse. This plan offers a real chance to change all that. We don't need more empty promises, glossy brochures and private apartment blocks which only serve to bolster political egos and line the pockets of certain property developers in the area.''

Copies of the submission are available from Sinn Féin Atha Cliath, 44 Parnell Square, Dublin 1.
