New An Phoblacht magazine launches today

The new magazine will carry on An Phoblacht's long held position of providing an alternative republican voice to the mainstream media, as well as featuring challenging and thought-provoking articles from a cross section of Irish and international perspectives.

The new look An Phoblacht magazine launches today and will provide an alternative republican voice offering exclusive content, special interviews and unique perspectives.

The new format will complement the online presence of An Phoblacht and the first issue includes a 10 page special celebrating the extraordinary life and legacy of the late Martin McGuinness.

It also features an exclusive in-depth interview with newly elected Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald in which she talks candidly about her childhood, political development and outlines her vision for the future.

The new magazine will carry on An Phoblacht's long held position of providing an alternative republican voice to the mainstream media, as well as featuring challenging and thought-provoking articles from a cross section of Irish and international perspectives.

This first edition has articles by author and film maker Paul Mason, economic analyst trade union activist Michael Taft, CWU organiser Ruairí Creaney, and author Kevin Meagher.

Mason writes a compelling piece that highlights clearly the rifts and flaws in the EU today while pointing the way to a socially just Europe. Taft’s contribution is call for us all to rethink how we approach economic issues. Creaney tackles the lack of social progress in Irish society. Kevin Meagher argues that a United Ireland is closer than you think!

It marks a new chapter in the long history of An Phoblacht and further editions will appear throughout the year.

The new An Phoblacht magazine is available from Sinn Féin offices and usual stockists priced €5/£4.
