Pearse Doherty encourages people to attend Wolfe Tone Commemoration at Bodenstown

PEARSE DOHERTY has urged republicans to bring their friends and family to take part in this year’s Bodenstown Commemoration in County Kildare on Sunday 19 June, “this most historic event”.

Every June, thousands of republicans from across Ireland gather in the village of Sallins, to honour “The Father of Irish Republicanism” and leader of the United Irishmen rebellion of 1798, Theobald Wolfe Tone.

“Never have the words and principles envisioned by Wolfe Tone been more pertinent than today,” Pearse Doherty said.

“As republicans it is important we commemorate our fallen heroes and those who have helped set out the path which modern republicans follow.”

This year the parade will assemble at 2:15pm, Sunday 19 June on the main street of Sallins and then proceed to the resting place of Wolfe Tone at Bodenstown Churchyard.
